‘Ericvale’ – Self Guiding Notes

Twenty three years ago, the garden we hope you are now enjoying was virtually non-existent with cattle grazing up to the house. Huge Macracarpas loomed over the house on the northern and southern sides. A few resilient trees and shrubs survived the bovine onslaught and those of value have been incorporated into the ‘new’ garden.

The house was derelict, a result of many years of neglect and decay and condemned to face demolition. Built in 1890, it was a simple Victorian cottage, well maintained for many years and surrounded by a lovingly tended garden (see the photos in the tasting room). One hundred and eight years later we took on the formidable task of restoring and adding to the house and creating the garden you now see.
